Veterinary Insurance Options

Pet Insurance Review is an independent web site where all U.S. pet insurance companies are reviewed and rated by their customers.  After reading the reviews regarding the various insurance companies, you'll want to check each companies' web site to determine which coverage will work best for you and your pet.

Homestead Animal Hospital accepts payments by these companies:

When selecting an insurance plan, you'll want to ask questions that pertain to each pet, specifically.  There are plans for dogs, cats, birds and exotics.  Some insurance companies now offer catastrophic coverage to rescue pets, if you do not know your adopted pet's age.

Some questions to ask regarding the prospective insurance coverage plans:

Can I use any veterinarian?

Does the policy cover a particular pet's medical needs?

Does the policy cover routine annual well-care visits and shots?

What are the policy's conditions and exclusions?

Is there a multiple pet discount available?

What, if any, congenital or pre-existing conditions are excluded?  Will my pet coverage be dropped should my pet experience illness during the policy year?

What is the waiting period before coverage begins?

How long does it take to process a claim?

What is the maximum insurance pay-out per year?

How long has the insurance company been in business?

If your pet cannot qualify for pet insurace (example: an elderly or chronically ill pet), Homestead Animal Hopsital suggests you take the practical step of setting up a savings account or money market account for your pet.  The money would be available to you when your pet needs routine or illness care.

Lastly, Care Credit is offered by GE Money Company.  It works like a credit card and is a payment plan option for veterinary pet care.
